A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
Hello I am Pompi. I have worked as a psychotherapist for over 2 decades. During this time I have worked in England and overseas. I have worked within NHS services and also in inpatient rehab settings for addictions. Alongside client work I am a lecturer in cognitive behavioural therapy and provide clinical supervision in CBT. I am also an experienced supervisor and can offer clinical supervision in CBT and Counselling.
I see myself as a very open and collaborative therapist. I am very open about the style of therapy I engage in and inform the client of the underlying rationale for all interventions. I see therapy sessions as a partnership where I bring my expertise from my formal training and you bring your expertise of your life and your difficulties. Together we work through the difficulties and look at making changes.
I was born and raised in India but have made England my home. Other than English I speak fluent Hindi and Bengali.
I am trained in EMDR and Accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Making the decision to see a psychotherapist is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.
My sessions are 60 minutes long and initially they will be scheduled weekly so that we can make progress towards your goals. Please allow for 90 minutes for the initial assessment session. My in-person clinic is based on Rochester High Street. If you would like to discuss my availability please reach out to me by email.
Online sessions are charged at £75 per session and sessions at my Rochester Clinic are charged at £85. If you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours notice otherwise you will still need to pay for any session missed. I accept payments by bank transfers only. Payments for sessions will need to be made 24 hours in advance.
I primarily work within a Cognitive Behavioural framework. Goals are important when you are in therapy, sometimes that goal can be a specific change or sometimes the goal can be to learn or to understand oneself. In my sessions I will draw up a blueprint of the current situation outlining specific thoughts, emotions and behaviours and draw up how the past is influencing the present. Once this is drawn out I will collaboratively work with you to identify what you might want to reform, tweak or accept and keep. I believe with understanding comes change. If change is one of your goals then we will plan specific exercises to achieve the desirable change.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
People come to me for help a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through psychotherapy and counselling:
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Abuse
Depression
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or school life
As a clinical supervisor I always try to balance the reflective and restorative functions of supervision. I strongly believe that supervision is not just for difficult situations but for acknowledging and appreciating the work we do as therapists. I have a strong background in supporting CBT trainees in achieving their BABCP accreditations and also in supervising counselling practitioners.
Online clinical supervision will be charged at £75 and in person supervision sessions will be charged at £85. If you require supervision towards your initial accreditation please get in touch to discuss your specific needs.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how psychotherapy sessions work, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right psychotherapist to help. I also offer a 10 minute free consultation over the telephone. If you would like to book a telephone consultation please get in touch via email.
You can also call me on 07429094202 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first.
